This site is dedicated to spreading information about a silent plague that affects over 27 million worldwide. Most of the victims are women and children, and almost all are living in poverty or worse. The plague is slavery.
Did you know that more people are slaves now than in 400 years of the African slave trade? Women and children are abducted or sold, often into the sex industry. Latin America, Asia, Southeast Asia, and parts of Africa are the most dangerous areas for this practice. However, the USA is not innocent. Many women are kidnapped or sold in other parts of the world and then smuggled into the United States and kept locked in a brothel against their will and making money for their owner. Some estimates put the number of humans trafficked in the US to over 20,000 per YEAR.
Our group is dedicated to eradicating slavery in all its forms. We aim to do this by spreading information, raising money, and contacting government officials and other people in power to spread the word and stop the international slave trade. So far, we have organized a letter writing campaign to our congressmen and women to help raise awareness of this problem. With our fundraising efforts, we have raised $467 that will help end slavery in the Sudan, through the iAbolish group.
